“1792” Flowing Hair & Wreath
(“Strawberry Leaf”) Large Cent – Production Blog
All are over-struck on genuine US Mint Large Cents (circa
1794-1857).
The first year for US Mint large
cents was 1793. No large cents were originally produced dated 1792.
The 1793 Large Cent with Strawberry Leaf above the date is a famous rarity with
only a few known.
This fantasy over-strike is a hybrid using a Chain Cent Flowing Hair Liberty,
combined with the Strawberry Leaf, and Wreath reverse.
NOTE: These are NOT endorsed by the US Treasury. Defacing of US coins is legal so long as the defacement isn't for fraudulent purposes.
Current Status:
Production has ended.

First produced April 2025.
Over-struck in a smooth-edge collar. Some were broad-struck lightly over a normal in-collar over-strike.
One (red-brown) was struck on a “1792” Liberty Cap & Pole over-strike.
Later strikes show a thin die crack from under the chin, across the neck, to the hair. |
