1946 Oregon Numismatic Society / Seattle Coin Club Medal Restrikes – Production Blog

In 2018-2019 three 39mm vintage dies were used to make restrikes of these coin club medals.

The three vintage dies used:

DIE (A)

1946 Oregon Numismatic Society obverse
with “1849” obverse (small Beaver)

DIE (B)

1946 Oregon Numismatic Society reverse
with “OREGON EXCHANGE COMPANY”
reverse (10. D.)

DIE (C)

1946 Oregon Numismatic Society / Seattle Coin Club obverse
with “NORTH WEST COMPANY” obverse (large Beaver).

Full-size 39mm strikes have medal-turn orientation and smooth edge (struck in collar).

Smaller strikes, intended to capture only the central coin icon on the dies, have coin-flip orientation (broad-struck).

The smaller strikes (on items less than 28mm) have smooth edge or reeded edge (planchets reeded prior to striking).
