“1856”, “1857” Native-Head Cents – Production Blog

All are over-struck on genuine US Mint copper-nickel Native-Head Cents of 1859-1864.
A few were broad-struck and/or multiply struck with moderate shift between strikes.

Native-Head Cents were first struck as patterns in 1858 and then as regular production starting in 1859.

NOTE: These are NOT endorsed by the US Treasury. Defacing of US coins is legal so long as the defacement isn't for fraudulent purposes.
