“1902-S” Fantasy USA/Philippines Pesos – Production Blog

The United States took over administration of the Philippine Islands at the end of the Spanish-American War. Philippine coins under the US administration were first issued in 1903. No USA/Philippine coins were ever minted with a “1902” date.

NOTE: These are NOT endorsed by the US Treasury or the Philippines. Defacing of US coins is legal so long as the defacement isn't for fraudulent purposes.

First produced August, 2019. All are struck over USA/Philippines 90% silver pesos originally minted from 1903 to 1904.

The first two were over-struck in a tight collar resulting in a matte appearance.
The rest were broad-struck to some degree resulting in strong “cartwheel” mint luster.
