Silver Eagle Over-Strikes – Production Blog

All are over-struck on genuine US Mint Silver Eagles that originally had no mint mark.

Some were broad-struck and/or multiply struck with moderate shift between strikes.

The US Mint has produced proof versions of their popular Silver Eagles in every year from 1986 through 2008, and again starting in 2010. But no 2009-dated proof Silver Eagles were released by the US Mint. And none have ever had a “DC” mint mark. No US Mint silver Eagles ever had the Weinman Eagle reverse. The first year that the US Mint produced Silver Eagle Dollars was 1986.
